7 Reasons Why a Disney Cruise Beats the Competition

1. BETTER FREEBIES

On a Disney Cruise there’s free self-serve soda and ice-cream stations (open 24/7) on the main pool deck. There’s free first-run Disney movies playing at the Buena Vista Theatre (full-size movie theatre). And in your stateroom, there’s free Disney pay-per-view — basically every animated Disney movie in existence, and free room service.

2. BETTER ARSENAL OF CHARACTERS

Do I really need to convince you on this point? Who would you rather meet: Thing 1 and Thing 2 or Mickey Mouse and Goofy? There’s really no need to elaborate. But if you’re a skeptic, these are the characters that make regular appearances on Disney Cruises: Cinderella, Bell, Rapunzel, Tiana, Anna & Elsa, Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, Daisy, Chip & Dale, Peter Pan, Hook, Mr. Smee, Jack Sparrow, Stitch, Woody, Buzz Lightyear, and Jesse. And if it’s a Very Merry Cruise — add Santa. and Mrs. Clause, Halloween on the High Seas — Jack and Sally, Marvel Day at Sea — Captain America, Spiderman, Thor, Dr. Strange (and more), Star Wars Day at Sea — Chewbacca, R2-D2, C-3PO, Darth Vader (and more). Case dismissed!

3. BETTER STATEROOMS

Cruising as a family can be challenging — especially when it comes to personal space. Rooms on cruise ships just aren’t as big as those found in hotels. But on a Disney Cruise, there’s several differences that make them better than the competition. First, the sizes of Disney Cruise Line staterooms are just bigger to begin with. Second, Disney staterooms have privacy curtains to separate the main stateroom bed from the additional twin beds. Thirdly, most Disney staterooms have two bathrooms — one with a sink and toilet, and another with a sink and bathtub. Those are some major differences.

4. BETTER DINING

Disney Cruise Line is the only cruise line with themed, rotational dining. And your servers follow you to every restaurant! They’ll memorize your preferences, and give special attention to your kids: cutting their food, doing magic tricks, and drawing mouse ears in ketchup. Each of these dining experiences includes two appetizers, a main course, and dessert. Don’t know what dessert to get, order two!

5. BETTER ENTERTAINMENT

Every Disney Cruise ship has not one, not two, but THREE Broadway-style Disney shows —filled with your favorite Disney characters and presented inside the gorgeous Walt Disney Theatre.  But you’ll have to go on several Disney cruises to catch them all, because every ship has different shows. The newest one, debuting this holiday season, is Beauty and the Beast on the Disney Dream — based on the live-action movie!

6. BETTER FAMILY ACTIVITIES (FOR ALL AGES)

Imagine taking a drawing class to learn how to draw your favorite Disney character: Goofy. And just as you finish, guess who ‘drops in’ to inspect your work — Goofy himself! Or how about participating in a family-style game show called “Mirror, Mirror,” where the magic mirror from Snow White dictates the game, along the beloved dwarf Dopey. And for the adults there’s mixology classes, beer tastings, wine tastings, and lots of trivia!

7. FIREWORKS (AND BETTER DECK PARTIES)

Disney Cruise Line is the only cruise line that has fireworks. And these aren’t normal fireworks. These are Disney fireworks — themed to that evening’s deck party (usually a pirate one). And when we say deck parties, we mean deck PAR-TAY — themed food, Disney characters dressed to match, and themed shows. It just doesn’t get any more magical.
