There’s nothing like the magic of Disneyland character dining during your Disneyland Resort vacation. I’ve said it many times before —the best way to meet and greet with your favorite Disney characters is through character dining. Today, we’ll take a look at the four character dining options at the Disneyland® Resort.
Note: There used to be 5 before the pandemic, but right now, there’s only four. RIP Surf’s Up! Breakfast with Mickey and Friends at PCH Grill.
4. Minnie and Friends Breakfast in the Park – Plaza Inn
This character dining experience is referred to as the ‘character palooza’ of Disneyland. Located inside Disneyland® Park, at the Plaza Inn, you never know what characters will appear or how many — it always changes. The only for sure character is Minnie, since she’s the ‘host.’ Some people have experienced 7 characters, others as many as 12! Characters that might appear include: Tigger, Eyore, Chip, Dale, Max, Winne the Pooh, Rafiki, Captain Hook, Mary Poppins, Mad Hatter, Alice, Brer Fox, and Gideon. The food here is… you guessed it — hot and cold breakfast buffet.
3. Goofy’s Kitchen – Disneyland Hotel
This character dining experience offers classic Disney’s characters — Goofy, Minnie, Chip, Dale, and Pluto — in an extremely fun and festive dining environment. Located in the corner of the Disneyland® Hotel, it’s basically the brother/sister character dining experience to Chef Mickey’s at Disney World® Resort, only Goofy’s the main star here. Before you get seated you’ll take a picture with Goofy — the head chef — and then it’s time to hit the buffet. If your dining here for breakfast, make sure you try the famous peanut-butter and jelly pizza. Yes, it might sound a little gross, but it’s good — trust us!
2. Mickey’s Tales of Adventures – Storyteller Cafe
Located inside the Grand Californian Resort Hotel & Spa, its popularity remains for three reasons: (1) the consistency of the food being excellent (shout out to the made-to-order omelette station!) (2) the unique theming of the restaurant in general with the Californian style craftsman decor and (3) being able to meet your favorite characters before you head off to the parks. Every twenty minutes, you’ll see a parade of characters that normally include Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, and Chip and Dale (characters are subject to change) dawning their adorable adventure outfits. As you dine, they’ll stop and interact with everyone at your table. Just keep in mind that characters only appear here during breakfast and brunch, but not during dinner. Dinner is still yummy, but not quite as magical without the Disney pals. Either way, be sure to try the ‘Froot Loop’ infused Milk!
1. Disney Princess Adventure’s Breakfast – Napa Rose
This is a breakfast fit for royalty! Enjoy a delicious, three-course breakfast with your favorite Disney Princesses inside the Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. This is the most sought after and coveted character dining experience at the Disneyland® Resort. Young princesses and princes will be given a variety of options for appetizers, their main course, and a sweet treat. For the kings and queens of the family, dishes geared more towards adults will also be offered. In addition to the dining experience, you can choose from a variety of activities to partake in such as, a mini warrior class with Mulan, or even storytime with Belle. At the end of your dining experience, kids will be given a keepsake to bring home, to never forget their wonderful time at Napa Rose.
