It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of dessert and fireworks. I believe fireworks are one of the most magical experiences that any Disney theme park has to offer. And dessert… I’m a big kid at heart. My husband jokes that a good meal to me is hot dogs and macaroni and cheese. And while there’s some truth to that, I like to believe that my taste buds have matured with age — at least slightly.
We go to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party every year because (1) I’m obviously obsessed with all things Disney (which is why I own my own travel agency) and (2) I LOVE Christmas! This past year, we decided to try out Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks Dessert Party to see if it was as good as other dessert party experiences we’ve tried.
If you don’t like reading, just watch the video. If you’re stuck where you can’t listen to audie, keep reading.
The Basics
Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks Dessert Party is held only on Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party nights. You must have tickets to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party to attend, and it requires a separate reservation and is an additional charge. You cannot use the Dining Plan or Tables in Wonderland.
The current cost is:
- $84 Adults | $50 – Tomorrowland Terrace Viewing
- $69 Adults | $41 – Garden Plaza Viewing
Like most dessert parties, you’re paying for the food and for the VIP reserved seating — in this case VIP seating for Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks. Unlike other dessert parties, you have the choice of two viewing locations: Tomorrowland Terrace and Garden Plaza.
The difference between Tomorrowland Terrace and Garden Plaza Viewing
We had originally wanted Tomorrowland Terrace viewing because (1) you don’t have to move locations. You can eat your desserts and remain at your table to view the fireworks, and (2) we assumed it was a better view because of the price difference.
However, I actually believe Garden Plaza is a better location. Tomorrowland Terrace is to the right of Cinderella’s Castle — off centered, whereas the grassy knoll areas for Garden Plaza viewing are located on either side of main street. And while Disney states that it’s “standing room only”, everyone around us sat through the entire show. It was perfect for us.
The Desserts
Like all of Disney’s dessert parties, there’s a delightful mix of both sweet and savory items to delight your taste buds — along with specialty drinks both alcoholic and non alcoholic. You can watch the video above for a complete breakdown of everything on the menu, but my favorite was the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake. Honestly, it was more like a bread pudding — and sooooooo delicious!
The Takeaway
If you’re a fan of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party and want to add some extra holiday magic, we highly recommend this add on. When you consider the peace of mind of having reserved seating, combined with delicious holiday treats, the price is well worth it in our opinion.
